INSTRUMENTAL DRUM LESSONS
So, you’d like become a drummer, or just to improve your playing? You’ve come to the right place!
Who are you?
My name is Finlay, and I am a professional drummer with many years of experience in performing. I have performed with various bands of many styles, supporting artists such as Toploader and Scouting for Girls. I have been teaching for many years.
What is your focus in your drum lessons?
Drum lessons are based on the Trinity Rock and Pop Syllabus, with reference to the Rockschool Syllabus for technical playing. No prior knowledge of drums or music theory is required! If you decide that you would like to learn something different or have a piece of music in mind, that’s no problem at all, I am also very happy to teach what you would like me to!

This sounds great! Where do these lessons take place?
Drum lessons are available face-to-face with myself in the Midsomer Norton area. Apologies, but I have no support for online sessions, but can answer any questions that you may have in regard to drumming!
As guidance, I suggest the following session length based on your level:
30 minutes for Grade 1-3.
45 minutes for Grade 3-5.
60 minutes for Grade 6-8+.
What would my learning outcome be if I learned drums?
Your outcome would be to perform, read and improvise drum music across a wide range of styles.
You will be able to identify parts of the drum kit and their notated equivalents on sheet music, with further understanding of technical performance.
You will be able to explain why certain drum styles are appropriate for the genre of music - listening and replicating drum grooves and fills.
